Affordability in Utah

In 2025, tariffs cost Americans $1,000 more in costs this year than last. I grew up in a family on a teacher's salary. I understand what it means to hope you have enough money to cover all your expenses. I support bills that reflect the following:

Priority #1: housing affordabilitysuch as expanding homeownership programs, reducing housing costs, and easing zoning or regulatory constraints. I support measures that increase construction activity and broader economic growth

Priority #2: healthcare costs--such as ensuring matching funds continue flowing which keeps Medicaid premiums, co-pays, and state-level healthcare costs from rising, protection of hospital funding, and targeted interventions to reduce high medical prices, particularly prescriptions. Families delay care due to high deductibles, out of network bills, and limited access to mental health services.

Priority #3: social security taxation. I support reviewing and reassessing social security tax policy. We should align with states that protect retirement income.

Priority #4: childcare support--including efforts to expand childcare tax credits for businesses, home childcare grants, and childcare subsidy expansion for caregivers
